THE NATIONAL ENERGY UNIVERSITY (UNITEN)

OVERVIEW

Profile Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) is one of the first private universities in Malaysia and is wholly-owned by public-listed Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), one of the largest utility companies in South East-Asia 

The university first started in 1976 as Institut Latihan Sultan Ahmad Shah (ILSAS), the corporate training centre for TNB and its predecessor, the National Electricity Board for many years.

UNITEN offered academic programmes in engineering and business management at undergraduate and graduate levels through twinning links with local and foreign universities, in  2007 marking a decade of establishment of UNITEN as a university. 

UNITEN is a unique institution, providing both academic programmed and training in engineering technology skills within the same campus. The university’s programmers are focused on engineering, information technology, business management and related areas. UNITEN not only prepares its graduates to become knowledgeable and competent professionals, but also develops them holistically as well-rounded individuals with broad intellectual outlook. Though relatively new as a university.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor

1) high school, secondary school or A-Level with minimum CGPA 2 out of 4 or Pass

2) If you want to apply for an engineering program, you have to pass mathematics, physics and chemistry during high school.

Master

1) A Bachelor degree with minimum CGPA 2.75 out of 4 or equivalent, in a related field

2) A Bachelor degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2 out of 4 , in a related field can be accepted with a minimum  five (5) years work experience in relevant field.

PhD

1)A Master degree with minimum CGPA 2.75 out of 4 or equivalent, in a related field

2)A Bachelor degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2 out of 4 in a related field, can be accepted with minimum five (5) years work experience in relevant field.

ACCOMODATION

On-campus apartments are available for over 4,000 students. Bedrooms are either single or double and an apartment can accommodate two to six students. 

Facilities per unit: 

1-The premium units include water heater, fridge, lounge, air conditioning.

2-The non-high end are equipped with basic facilities such as, sofa, kitchenettes and modern toilets.

  • Premium Single (2 students per apartment) – RM620

  • Premium Single (4 students per apartment) – RM570

  • Deluxe Single (4 students per apartment) – RM440

  • Deluxe Twin sharing (4 students per apartment) – RM320

  • Superior Single (6 students per apartment) – RM340

  • Superior Sharing (6 students per apartment) – RM270

All the apartments include the following facilities:

  • Room inventory: single bed & mattress, side table, wardrobe, noticeboard, a ceiling fan and lamp;

  • the warden of the student units makes sure that any damages will be repaired immediately.
